Primeiro trimestre
Nas primeiras semanas, o ultrassom confirma a gravidez, ajuda a estimar a idade gestacional e verifica os batimentos do bebê. É também nessa fase que costuma ser avaliada a translucência nucal, um marcador importante do desenvolvimento.
Segundo trimestre
Por volta da metade da gestação, o ultrassom morfológico faz uma avaliação detalhada da formação do bebê — órgãos, coluna, coração e medidas. É um dos exames mais aguardados, porque traz uma visão cuidadosa do desenvolvimento.
Terceiro trimestre
Na reta final, o foco passa a ser o crescimento e o bem-estar do bebê. O obstétrico com Doppler ajuda a avaliar a circulação entre a mãe, a placenta e o bebê, quando o médico entende que é necessário.

Ultrasound follows a pregnancy from beginning to end, and each stage has an exam with a different purpose. Understanding this sequence helps you arrive calmer at each step.
First trimester
In the first weeks, the ultrasound confirms the pregnancy, helps estimate the gestational age and checks the baby's heartbeat. It is also at this stage that the nuchal translucency is usually assessed, an important marker of development.
Second trimester
Around the middle of the pregnancy, the morphological (anomaly) scan makes a detailed assessment of the baby's formation — organs, spine, heart and measurements. It is one of the most anticipated exams, because it gives a careful view of the development.
Third trimester
In the final stretch, the focus shifts to the baby's growth and well-being. The obstetric Doppler helps assess the circulation between mother, placenta and baby, when the doctor finds it necessary.
